Yom Hazikaron is Israel’s Official Memorial Day for her fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. Falling either in late April or early May every year, Yom Hazikaron is an especially solemn time marked by ceremonies and moments of silence across the country. This year, it will run from sundown April 20th to sundown April 21st, and is followed immediately by Yom HaAtzmaut, Israeli Independence Day (From Tourist Israel)
JCC Nursery School Eat & Fund
On Monday, April 13, proceeds from all dine-in and take-out sales at the Field Burger and Tap will be donated to the JCC Nursery School.
Wine Tasting and Dinner - A Big Success
The Congregation Brit Shalom Programming Committee along with Bruce Pincus and Jens Thorsen hosted a Wine Tasting Dinner on Saturday, January 24 at 5:30 pm. The event began with Havdalah, followed by a wine and cheese pairing, including four Israeli wines—three whites and one red—leading into a delicious dinner awith a sweet finish.
Building Improvements
Scott Daggs, our building and grounds chair, has recently overseen and participated in several projects that have been completed: vastly improved night-time lighting of both the upper and lower parking lots; remediation of water damage by the front entrance; and the placement of an AED just outside the cloakroom to provide a first-line response to medical emergencies. The remodeling of our Torah Ark is a recently completed project that greatly beautifies our sanctuary. The redesign of the lower entrance to upgrade security is a major ongoing project.
