Join us on March 13, April 10, May 1, and May 22 as we consider some of recent history’s Supreme Court decisions. We hear about these cases but often do not understand the legal doctrines and issues involved. Under the guidance of attorneys Josh Gitelson and Barry Ruback, we shall examine these decisions. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
On April 10, we will focus on Shelby County v. Holder (2013), a landmark voting-rights case in which the U.S. Supreme Court arguably knocked the teeth out of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Nine years on, what is the legacy of Shelby County v. Holder, and why did the Court decide what it did?
