Every ten years electoral districts are redrawn for Federal and State legislators in response to a new census. How we draw electoral districts will shape who runs, who is elected, and who is represented for the next decade. The path to a new map has drawn more attention this year than ever before as divided government in Harrisburg and a burgeoning grassroots opposition to gerrymandering has forced the process into the open.
This virtual program will be presented by: Dr. Lee Ann Banaszak, Head of the Department of Political Science and Professor of Political Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Penn State; and Dr. Chris Fowler, Associate Professor of Geography and Demography at Penn State. Professors Banaszak and Fowler will offer their insights into how the process has unfolded so far and what the implications are for governance and representation going forward.
*This event is jointly organized by the Brit Shalom Program and Social Action Committees.
