In a workshop geared toward amateur and professional musicians from the synagogue and the community, Simple Gifts will teach participants to play Klezmer music. Klezmer (literally Yiddish for "musician") is the traditional music of the Eastern European Jewish population, and it uses scales, modes, ornaments and expressions that are different from Western music. This workshop will focus on the cultural and technical aspects of Klezmer music.
